Although we have been here in Monsoon season, we have been incredibly lucky with the weather - that is until yesterday afternooon. The storm was quite spectacular - absolute driving rain and high winds sending everything flying.
It all actually felt quite exciting and we had that lovely feeling of being all cosy in our tree house homes while the wind whipped the waves up outside. Above is a picture of the roof.

Just amazing
The middle of last night found Charlie and I struggling to close the tats (a sort of blind made of bamboo) in our room while it went absolutely wild outside.
I know that some of you at the Royal School of Dunkeld who are reading this are going to be (or are already) studying space. What is very interesting about the storm is that the night before it happened, we all noticed the most amazingly clear ring around the moon. We are four days off from a full moon now and it was a cloudless night which made the halo round the moon look quite incredible. It is all to do with the refraction and reflection of light through tiny ice crystals - I am sure you will all be able to look it up. I just googled 'halo round moon' and got lots of good information.
We are heading off to Singapore now on a small boat, then a car across Bintan before we go on to a ferry in what is a very choppy sea.
